HanelPT attended the ASEAN Workshop on he CSR - the Promotion of corporate social responsibility in social welfare and development

On July 05^th ~ 07^th 2019, HanelPT is a fortunate enterprise representing Vietnam in ASEAN Workshop on the promotion of CSR in social welfare and development.

Location: at Jupiter Room 11 - 13, Muang Thong Thani, Nonthaburi Province, Thailand.

HanelPT represented Vietnam enterprises to report on the CSR implementation in Vietnam

The ASEAN community has a goal that people is the center point. As a society that cares and shares the life quality and happiness, including promoting the ASEAN national character to community, in the ASEAN’s Plan 2009 – 2025, it defines the social responsibility of the business sector (CSR ) on rights and equity issues including four following important measures:

(1) Develop public policy models for CSR or legal regulations for reference among ASEAN member countries. This may refer to relevant international standards and practices, such as ISO 26000: Corporate social responsibility principles

(2) Coordinate the private sector to support ASEAN activities and raise ASEAN Funds related to corporate social responsibility.

(3) Encourage application and application of international social responsibility standards

(4) Raise awareness of ASEAN corporates about social responsibility for sustainable development between commercial activities and local communities.

Implementation of CSR at the ASEAN level should be done to contribute to solving social and environmental issues. To create sustainability for both business and society in line with the development orientation of the world, the United Nations has set development goals according to the "Sustainable Development" model.

Participants in the workshop include:

1) Representatives of 10 ASEAN member countries, including Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

In which, Vietnam representatives include:

1. Mrs. Do Thi Thanh Huyen - Vietnam ministry of labor - invalids and social affairs
2. Mr. Nguyen Trung Thanh -  Vietnam ministry of labor - invalids and social affairs
3. Mr. Tran Duc Tung – Assistant Director – Hanel Production and Import-Export JSC

2) Representatives from Thailand business network, CSR executives and scholars

(3) Representatives of Thai government agencies which operates CSR, Subcommittee on corporate social responsibility, Subcommittee in the National Social Welfare Promotion Committee

Representing the Vietnam business sector, HanelPT had a speech to report on the implementation of "Social Responsibility" (CSR), highlighting the below issues:

- Model of CSR implementation in Vietnam

- Overview of regulations on CSR implementation

- CSR implementation situation

- Advantages and opportunities in implementing CSR

- Recommendations to the workshop

After the 3-day meeting, the Vietnam delegation together with other ASEAN member countries shared more deeply about the views and policy aspects that should be implemented for CSR. Although the workshop closed without a general statement, the executive board had more fully the information as well as the opinions from the member countries, which will be as a premise for the next workshop held in September in Laos. HanelPT believes that we also contributes a no small part to the ASEAN community.
